Mehndi Welcome Dinner

Saturday, March 22, 2025

4:30 pm, M Beach Club, JW Marriot Phuket

Join us for a relaxed evening of mehndi (henna), drinks, food and chit-chat as we welcome you to Thailand and our wedding festivities.

Attire suggestions - It will be hot outside, so something light is suggested. Maybe comfy indo-western, your favourite summer dress, a cool jumpsuit or a relaxed shirt and your biggest smiles! Please note the event takes place at the beach, so we suggest flats or wedges for the sand ladies!

10 am, The Lotus Pavillion and Pond

A traditional Hindu ceremony involves applying turmeric paste to the bride and groom to ensure we glow at the wedding. Lunch will be served following the ceremony.

Attire suggestion - We suggest comfortable and light clothing - dresses, saris, national dresses, jumpsuits, skirts, trousers, it’s all welcome. Just be aware it can sometimes be messy. While traditionally, people might wear yellow or white to reflect the yellow of the turmeric paste, feel free to wear whatever colour you feel your best in!

3.30 pm, Assembly of Baraat at the Lobby

The groom’s entry is the start of the party! While typically the groom is led by his family and friends to the wedding altar, we welcome everyone, no matter if you are team groom or team bride, to come to hype Karan up and bring him to Surbhi.

The Baraat will lead straight into the wedding ceremony which will subsequently be followed by cocktails, dinner and dancing.

Attire suggestions: Formal of any kind, with no restrictions. Feel free to wear Indian formal, Western formal or your own country’s national dress. No change of clothes is required between the events.

4.30 pm, Mai Khao beachfront at JW Marriott followed by dinner and dancing at Mai Khao Ballroom

The baraat will lead us straight into the Pheras - the Hindu wedding ceremony, where the bride and groom will complete 7 circles around the fire, each symbolising a vow they make to each other. The ceremony begins at 4:30 pm at the Mai Khao beachfront.

The wedding ceremony will be followed by cocktails and lead straight into dinner and dancing. Dinner will finish at 11 pm, and the after-party/dancing will continue till 3 am (if you can match our moves!)

Dress code: Formal of any kind, with no restrictions. Feel free to wear Indian formal, Western formal or your own country’s national dress. No change of clothes is required between the events. Please feel free to bring a comfy change of shoes or clothes for the after-party if you wish. If you are not staying at the JW Marriott, there will be space available to store your belongings before the event.
